MICRA 2017 will be an interdisciplinary workshop aimed at fostering exchange between nuclear (astro-)physicists and computational modelers of relativistic astrophysical phenomena, such as the mergers of neutron star and core-collapse supernovae. A major goal of the workshop series is to foster efforts to include increasingly realistic microphysics in simulations so that we can confidently interpret multi-messenger observations of high density environments. Additionally, this year’s workshop will emphasize the development of strategies for rigorous code-to-code comparison and verification with the goal of improving the reliability of simulations from the entire community.
This meeting is hosted by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics -- Center for the Evolution of the Elements, a NSF Physics Frontier Center.
RegistrationRegistration for MICRA2017 is now open. To register, please go to the FRIB Online Store and follow the MICRA 2017 Registration link. Early registration will be open through June 1st.
FlyingYou can get to East Lansing via a number of airports:
- Lansing's Capital Region Airport (LAN): This is a smaller airport with limited flights, but it is only about 20 minutes from the MSU campus. A Taxi or Uber costs around $20 one way from the airport to the conference hotel. Shuttle transportation from the Capital Region International Airport to Kellogg Center Hotel and Conference Center is offered by Kellogg by calling +1 (517) 432-4000. Car rentals are also available.
- Detroit Metro Airport (DTW): DTW is about a one and a half hours drive from the MSU campus MSU campus, but it has many more flight options than LAN. Michigan Flyer provides bus transportation (with WIFI) from DTW to East Lansing for $30 USD one-way and $50 USD round-trip. Reservations for Michigan Flyer can be made at http://www.michiganflyer.com/. Car rentals are also available.
- Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR): This airport is about 65 miles from MSU and does not have convenient transportation like DTW, so we recommend against using it. If you decide to use this airport, cab fair to MSU is around $125 USD one-way or you can get luxury sedan for a flat rate of around $144 USD. Car rentals are also available.
A block of rooms is reserved for meeting participants at the Kellog Hotel and Conference Center on the MSU campus. When making your reservation, please use the group code 1707CYCLOT to get the reduced $100/night rate we have arranged for conference attendees. The number of rooms available at Kellogg is limited. If you are unable to get a room there, it may be possible to get a room at the FRIB rate at the Residence Inn by Marriott or the Towne Place Suites by Marriott, both of which are a 25 minute walk from the NSCL.
